This is really the Wife’s sort of gig, but I’m grading papers today. So I thought I would steal her idea, and picture, for a post. Hope you get it right!
All the houses on Saums are white, green, or brown. There are twice as many white houses as brown houses. There are 5 more brown houses than green houses. There are 7 green houses. How many houses are there on Saums?

There are 43 houses on Saums.
G + (G+5) + 2(G+5), where G=7.

7 green + 5 = 12 brown
(12 brown x 2) = 24 white
7 green + 12 brown + 24 white = 43 houses
