A Prayer

A small excerpt from the Missio Dei Breviary for Monday evening:”Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.

Father, you are gracious. You give good things to those who seek you, and those who do not seek you. Help us to have compassion on those in need—help us to show love to both the one who seeks and the one who doesn’t seek. Bring us to those in need in our neighborhood, and empower us to serve them.

We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
