Petting dogs and cats make things better. I don’t know why…but it does. When you are sad you can pet the nice huggy doggy and you feel better. When you are mad the kitty rolls over on your foot and says “pet my belly please” and you aren’t as upset. Animals are God’s therapy.
Josh Smith, the pastor at the church we have been visiting, shared another good sermon this morning. I’ve been very impressed with who he is, what he believes, and how he feels led to move the church. I think we might join it. We would have to go to a prospective member class with the pastor first though (another thing I like).
My job is…coming along I guess. I’m in the support raising phase, so I’m not doing all the work stuff I want to do. I have to get this done first before I can go to the office. It’s a little overwhelming actually. I’m Baptist and the idea of raising my support (in this case since I’m home staff its my salary) is new to me. But, that is the way missions is going. More and more people, organizations, and missions things in general are raising support in this way. I like it more than the other option. For one it causes you to rely on God much more. I also like how you are partnering with people in your ministry. A church budget that goes to IMB, CBF, or BGCT is good. But you don’t really know what your money is going to, not exactly. Its just going in the big pot. This way people know what they are supporting and have a part in the ministry. People are involved more personally. That I like a lot. The part I don’t like is my part. The first phone call I made to set up an appointment to meet with someone was intimidating. I was very nervous. I shouldn’t be. God brought me this far…I don’t expect him to not complete what he wants me to do. But…none the less, I am feeling nervous, a bit intimidated, and a bit meek at the whole thing. But that should ease as I get used to talking with people and things. If you want to know about what I’m doing (Director of Short Term Missnnnnnns with Frontiers I’d love to talk with you.
Well, that’s about it. The Cowboys lost today. They shouldn’t have. Stupid stupid heads can’t block on a field goal.
Here is a new game for you to play…its loads of fun.
